Jochen Lempert

Jochen Lempert (*1958) studied biology. Between 1979 and 1989, he was a member of the experimental film group Schmelzdahin, which explored the combination of chemical processes and celluloid film. After this fruitful collaboration, he began to work photographically and has been researching the dialog between nature and man since the 1990s. He has received numerous awards for his photographic work, including the Scholarship for Contemporary German Photography from the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation (1993) and the Camera Austria Prize for Contemporary Photography (2017). Jochen Lempert has exhibited at the Museum Ludwig Cologne (2010), the Hamburger Kunsthalle (2013), the Sprengel Museum Hannover (2017), the Centre d'art contemporain d'Ivry - le Crédac and the Contemporary Art Center, Vilnius (both 2020) and Portikus, Frankfurt/Main (2022), among others.
