Henrike Naumann

In her work, Henrike Naumann reflects on the history of right-wing extremist violence in Germany and the causes of racial prejudice. Naumann is interested in the mechanisms of radicalization and how these are linked to personal experience and youth. She places particular focus on the tension between the forming of political opinion and everyday aesthetics. In her installations she creates scenographic spaces, often in connection with video and sound. In staging private surroundings, they subtly create a frequently oppressive atmosphere in relation to current social developments. For Ruhr Ding the artist has developed a walk-in installation, which uses subversive fantasies as a point of departure for its content. The work is supported by Kunststiftung NRW. Henrike Naumann [born 1984] lives in Berlin.
