Jessica Arseneau

©Roland Baege

Jessica Arseneau (*1988) explores the way human perception and subjectivity is shaped by social codes, patterns of behaviour, accelerating culture and technological progress. She works with video, performance, print, and text to create environments that allude to a poetic space between consciousness and the unconscious. Her current work focuses on the phenomena of sleep and insomnia in a 24/7 world. Jessica Arsenau, who was born in Canada, holds a Bachelor of visual Arts at Université de Moncton and a Diploma of Media Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, both with distinction.

Her solo exhibitions include The Screen Under My Eyelids at Helmut, Leipzig, Nothing but a Constant Glow at Spinnerei archiv massiv, Leipzig (2020) and Lost Idyll at Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen, Moncton, Canada (2016). She exhibited at Galerie Sans Nom, Moncton, Canada, Darling Foundry, Montreal, Canada, Eastern Bloc, Montreal, BronxArtSpace, New York, Agora Collective, Berlin, Traverse Vidéo, Toulouse, France, Friche la Belle de Mai, Marseille, France and Westpol A.I.R. Space, Leipzig.

From Jan—Dec 2021, Jessica Arseneau was a resident at the Makroscope – Zentrum für Kunst und Technik.
