Nicoline van Harskamp

Nicoline van Harskamp explores the use of language in different contexts within her artistic practice. To develop performative actions and film works from documentations of conversations, speeches and debates, van Harskamp often works with linguists and people on location. In a poetic-conceptual way, van Harskamp makes clear how human perception is shaped by language and what power it possesses. Her current project is dedicated to the linguistic development and creolization of names. At Oberhausen City Hall, Nicoline van Harskamp is showing a multi-channel video installation that explores the naming and history of immigrants living in the Ruhr region. Nicoline van Harskamp [b. 1975] lives in Amsterdam.
