Lawrence Lek

Based on both real-world locations and fictional scenarios, Lawrence Lek creates virtual worlds in his video works, reminiscent of both futuristic video games and digital visualizations of architecture. Lek investigates the psychological effects on humans that occur as a result of increasing digitization, he develops immersively tangible landscapes and outlines futuristic scenarios whose constructions are often based on real facts — dreams, fears and memories become manifest in virtual architecture. For Ruhr Ding, he is staging a vision of the future, manipulating the physically tangible space in the virtual world, creating a cosmos that that is both virtually and physically accessible. Lawrence Lek [born 1982] lives in London.
