Emscherkunstweg goes IGA 2027
3.12.2025

With the opening of Markus Jeschaunig's installation Königsgrube, the collaboration between Urbane Künste Ruhr, Regionalverband Ruhr and Emschergenossenschaft for the Emscherkunstweg project has come to a successful conclusion. After several bike tours in the summer, we have now handed over all curatorial, organisational and communication tasks to Regionalverband Ruhr, which will continue to develop the sculpture trail together with Emschergenossenschaft in anticipation of the International Garden Exhibition 2027.

One hundred kilometres of river, cycle path, art: you will continue to find inspiring destinations among the 24 works of art along the Emscher – we hope you enjoy them!

Xanten

The Grand Snail Tour will be accompanied by literary, photographic and illustrative artists, who will collect impressions and reflections from the same city at the same time as the Trailer is there and put them into visual or literary form. The result is a paratext on the three-year tour, a travel chronicle in the form of a kaleidoscope of stories, connections and snapshots in the 53 cities of the region, revealing the simultaneities and non-simultaneities of the Grand Snail Tour.
