In connection with the exhibition Unheimliche Verschiebungen (Uncanny Shifts), the Künstler*innenhaus Dortmund is presenting Tingling Earth – Schauer unter der Haut der Erde🔥 (Tingling Earth. Shivers Under the Earth’s Skin). This group show that brings together young artists from the region, Europe and the Ukrainian diaspora can be regarded as an exhibition within the larger exhibition. Tingling Earth – Schauer unter der Haut der Erde🔥 focuses especially on the artistic engagement with land as fertile soil, as an ecosystem and as the (under)ground on which community, but also division, can grow.

A teaspoon of healthy soil contains more microorganisms than there are people on Earth, and a healthy soil microbiome has been increasingly linked to healthy human intestinal flora. The soil is not just underneath us; it’s also within us.

Land as part of a multitude of interconnected soil situations especially becomes central during global crises – in conflicts over resources, as territory, or as the provider of raw materials. At the same time, its ecological dimension is revealed when raw materials run out, leaving devastated and contaminated areas.

This focus on land also explores the foundations on which a community revolving around equality, solidarity and kindness can grow. The exhibition Tingling Earth - Schauer unter der Haut der Erde🔥 invites visitors to reflect on our present time, on new realities and on a vision of a future based on working toward the common good.

Hamminkeln

The Grand Snail Tour will be accompanied by literary, photographic and illustrative artists, who will collect impressions and reflections from the same city at the same time as the Trailer is there and put them into visual or literary form. The result is a paratext on the three-year tour, a travel chronicle in the form of a kaleidoscope of stories, connections and snapshots in the 53 cities of the region, revealing the simultaneities and non-simultaneities of the Grand Snail Tour.

Hamminkeln by Erdem Teper

zurecht, dass er den menschen überlebt;
während die zeit bereits
das leichentuch des menschen webt
und der baum schaut den menschen an,
beide aus haut, rinde und knochen
nur hat der neue mensch
seine beziehung zur natur unterbrochen
