Sven Johne

Sven Johne (*1976 on Rügen) is an artist and filmmaker based in Berlin. He studied photography at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. In his text, photo and video works, Sven Johne combines historical research and fictional narratives and deals with post-socialist biographies. He explores aspects of East Germany's present and past, the feeling of political powerlessness and the general longing for change. Sven Johne has recently shown his work in solo exhibitions at Fluentum and Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin (both 2023) and in group exhibitions at the Albertinum in Dresden (2023), the 12th Berlin Biennale (2022) and the Weserburg. Museum of Modern Art in Bremen (2021). Furthermore, his work is part of the collection of Folkwang Museum in Essen.

Xanten

The Grand Snail Tour will be accompanied by literary, photographic and illustrative artists, who will collect impressions and reflections from the same city at the same time as the Trailer is there and put them into visual or literary form. The result is a paratext on the three-year tour, a travel chronicle in the form of a kaleidoscope of stories, connections and snapshots in the 53 cities of the region, revealing the simultaneities and non-simultaneities of the Grand Snail Tour.

Jul Gordon lives in Hamburg and works as a comic artist. In addition to drawing, she curates exhibitions and works as a lecturer at the HAW Hamburg.
