The Troubadour is travelling through the Ruhr area from Dortmund to Duisburg – from city to city, performance to performance and encounter to encounter. Revolving around the idea of continuous presence, it is an uninterrupted journey and a musical experiment where conversations, hospitality and shared experiences create an ever growing repertoire of songs, texts and stories.

Spotlight on the work Negative Gemeinschaft by Kein schöner Archiv, which takes place on both sides of the railway station and brings together different voices and perspectives from Dortmund. The focus is on forms of collective action that engage with social conditions and advocate for a different way of living together. At the Dietrich-Keuning-Haus, Michael Annoff and Nuray Demir will lead a discussion with İpek Gençtürk, after which KDM – Königin der Macht will deliver a performative sermon. She will then hand over to The Troubadour, performed by Riah Knight.

Together with the curators Britta Peters and Alisha Raissa Danscher we visit different venues of the exhibition Uncanny Shifts and invite you to explore the works and their environments. The tour takes place in German and lasts about two hours.

Following on from the exhibition Uncanny Shifts, the Künstler*innenhaus Dortmund presents a group exhibition that puts a special emphasis on the artistic exploration of the Earth as both fertile soil and an ecosystem, as well as the (sub)ground upon which community and division arise.

Ruhige Wolke refers to the waste heat from the cooling tower – the residual energy that can no longer be utilized by the system and drifts away. Jingyun Li grew up as the child of power plant workers in the settlement surrounding the Weihe coal-fired power plant in China. In this performance, the theater artist uses autofiction to explore her own biography and, through poetic language, reflects on processes of connection and alienation within traumas passed down across generations.
