Vanessa Nica Mueller

©Roland Baege

Vanessa Nica Mueller is an independent filmmaker and visual artist. Her films and artwork combine a documentary approach with a specific poetic visual language. She is focused on aspects of memory, the relation of human, nature and urban space, the uncanny and the construction of conditions. In her artistic research about fragile ecosystems the corelation between inner and outer climate changes forms a hybrid approach of essayistic cinematique language.

Her last short films Traces of an Elephant (2011), Half the Night (2012) and PLATEAU (2016) were shown at international film festivals and in the context of art exhibitions. Besides realizing her own films, she also works as academic lecturer in the field of film education and curates film screenings or artist talks.

From April—June 2021, Vanessa Nica Mueller was a resident at the Halfmannshof in Gelsenkirchen.

Unna
