Kemal Dinç

Kemal Dinç, originally from Turkey, moved to Germany with his family in 1980. He began playing the bağlama at the age of twelve and later learnt the classical guitar. After training at the vocational school for music in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, he completed a master's degree at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre in 1997. In his compositions, he combines Anatolian melodies with polyphonic structures and developed the Dinç-Bağlama named after him. He performs with various ensembles and symphony orchestras and teaches at renowned music academies. In 2022, he received the WDR Jazz Prize in the ‘Music Cultures’ category.

Wesel

The Grand Snail Tour will be accompanied by literary, photographic and illustrative artists, who will collect impressions and reflections from the same city at the same time as the Trailer is there and put them into visual or literary form. The result is a paratext on the three-year tour, a travel chronicle in the form of a kaleidoscope of stories, connections and snapshots in the 53 cities of the region, revealing the simultaneities and non-simultaneities of the Grand Snail Tour.
