Schlechte Nachrichten, ambivalente Gefühle: die Klimavorhersage

Ukr 2020 facebook eventimage w21

Guests at the Naturmuseum Dortmund will be U.S. artist and composer Ari Benjamin Meyers, psychologist and activist Katharina van Bronswijk, and meteorologist Dr. Bernhard Pospichal. The conversation will be moderated by curator and director of Temporary Gallery Aneta Rostkowska. The event was recorded without an audience at the Naturmuseum Dortmund due to the ongoing pandemic situation.

The conversation will focus on the question of the possibilities of predicting the climate and the topic of Climate Grief, that is, grief over climate change and its consequences. People want a clear picture of the future and at the same time it seems more difficult than ever to give concrete answers. Questions discussed in the conversation include: what tools can actually be used to formulate predictions and how can we as humans deal with this knowledge? What emotions does climate change trigger, and how do you counsel people who fall into depression over it? Is there actually some kind of appropriate basic psychological attitude to react to the predictions? From which perspective and with which expertise can climate change be addressed and finally: how can solutions be thought of in the here and now? After all, isn't the present always a rehearsal for the future?
