Etienne Dietzel

©Roland Baege

Etienne Dietzel was born in1986 in Bad Salzungen (Thüringen). Following his training in stone carving he studied sculpture under Bruno Raetsch at the Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein and photography under Philip Gaißer, as well as MMVR (Multimedia und Virtual Reality) under Jonas Hansen.

His works, which are frequently developed in cooperation with artists and specialists from various fields, are technical in nature, their appearance relating to their own genesis. What ultimately become visible are the signs of the logic underlying them. They are model-like abstractions deriving from observations; simplifications, demonstrating something about human attempts at creating order in both their environment and themselves.

Etienne Dietzel lives and works in Halle.

Oer-Erkenschwick

The Grand Snail Tour will be accompanied by literary, photographic and illustrative artists, who will collect impressions and reflections from the same city at the same time as the Trailer is there and put them into visual or literary form. The result is a paratext on the three-year tour, a travel chronicle in the form of a kaleidoscope of stories, connections and snapshots in the 53 cities of the region, revealing the simultaneities and non-simultaneities of the Grand Snail Tour.
