Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber

© Rolf K Wegst

Katja Stuke and Oliver Sieber combine photography, publishing, video and curatorial practice in their work. Their artistic research, some of which is long-term, examines various visual cultures and the connections between photographic images and social issues. They have been producing artist publications (as Böhm Kobayashi) for over 25 years and have been running the curatorial project ANT!FOTO since 2010.  They live and work in Düsseldorf.

Since 2005, they have been working regularly abroad, often in Osaka, Tokyo, and Paris, but also in Chicago, Chongqing, Rotterdam, Sarajevo, and Toronto. In 2024, they were awarded the MO_Kunstpreis Museum Ostwall, Dortmund, and in 2023, they were winners of the ‘Regards du Grand Paris’. Most recently, they exhibited their work ‘Le Monde de Demain’ at the project office of the DFI e.V. in Düsseldorf.

The Grand Snail Tour will be accompanied by literary, photographic and illustrative artists, who will collect impressions and reflections from the same city at the same time as the Trailer is there and put them into visual or literary form. The result is a paratext on the three-year tour, a travel chronicle in the form of a kaleidoscope of stories, connections and snapshots in the 53 cities of the region, revealing the simultaneities and non-simultaneities of the Grand Snail Tour.
