Mischa Kuball & Lawrence Weiner

Mischa Kuball (1959 in Düsseldorf, DE) works as a conceptual media artist, mostly using light as material. In his works he frequently examines historically or architecturally significant sites in urban contexts. He is represented with numerous works in public spaces throughout the Emscher region, among them Yellow Marker (2000) in Bönen and Kamp-Lintfort, Blaues Lichtoval (1999) in Herne and the neon sign Kunstsammlungen Uni Bochum (2003).

Lawrence Weiner (*1942 in New York, US) is one of the leading exponents of US American Concept art which emerged in the 1960s. Often formally tending towards Minimalism, Weiner’s works for public space consist primarily of text and characters that always make reference to their location. Another of his works in the vicinity is situated on the campus of the Ruhr University Bochum: &so weiter (2010).
